Summary :Species-specific identification remains one of the most critical steps in biology, and this is particularly true for applied programs such as epidemiological studies. Indeed, each species may display a specific immunity or hosts to a specific pathogen. It is also the case for agronomy and ecology studies since species may have specific crop incidence, population dynamics, behavior and/or ecology. Consequently, all field surveys must rely on a rigorous systematic framework. South Eastern Asia ecosystems are exceptionally rich and shelter an important amount of endemic species. This field guide is a compilation of documents gathering to illustrate the lesson: “Rodent identification: from morphometry to molecules” that aims to summarize the basis of morphological and molecular identification in both field and laboratory.
