CERoPath Barcoding Tool
Access to RodentSEA identification tool.
RodentSEA identification tool was build on the basis of barcoding concept.
DNA barcoding is a recent tool increasingly used to identify species in large-scale studies (the Barcode of Life Data (BOLD)).
It uses a very short genetic sequence from a standard part of the genome. For almost all animal groups this sequence is a 648 base-pair region in the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase 1 gene (“CO1”).
During CERoPath project, we aim to develop a toolbox to identify accuratly the Southeast Asian rodent species in the frame of our implication in R-syst program.
The RodentSEA identification tool is an online webservice and the first deliverable tool of the project. It is connected with the Rodent Information Center to offer a comprehensive description of each species and each voucher individuals used to create the reference data set. Informations displayed in voucher pages will be updated regularly according to available informations product by CERoPath partners.
This allows to assign your specimens by comparison of your COI sequences and our data set reference. The voucher individuals are identify at the specific level on the basis of integrative systematic works (Badenhorst, 2009, Chaval, 2010, Pagès 2010 ).
The systematic assessment work is always presently underway and nominal species assignment could evolve according to the new knowledges.
